BOARD MEETING TO FOLLOW

Saturday, October 8, 2016 - 10:00am
Brushy Creek State Park
2802 Brushy Creek Road
Lehigh, IA

Brushy Creek State Park, Lehigh, Iowa

Hosts:  Ralph and Sharon Walker

cell:  515-230-0042

NOTE  This is a Saturday drive

The drive will start at 10:00 and bring your own lunch/drinks, etc. It will

start from the south day use area, or south camp ground for those that want

to come up the day before. Apparently there is a north camp ground and day

use area and a south campground and day use area. We're using the south

ones. Drive will consist of a couple of miles on a black top and 2-3 miles of

gravel to get to the south wagon trails. We'll drive on the wagon trails, have

lunch and head back to camp. There is also another trail out of camp that

makes a 4-5 mile loop back to camp. Sounds like folks can pick which ever

trail they want to drive. The short one would put you back in camp for lunch.

Ralph said the highway 20 entrance into Brushy is closed for construction.

Best way is use the 290th St. entrance out of Lehigh. More detailed

directions will be sent out a week or so before the drive. Anyone with

questions could call Ralph - 515-230-0042.

SEPTEMBER DRIVE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

HOST: Linda Spain 515-205-6983

CHANGE OF LOCATION Because of potential parking problems in my yard (especially if its wet, and that’s very likely this year) I have decided to move the drive to Jester Park in Granger. I have reserved the date with the Jester Park personnel and they will lead us on the trails around the equestrian center. There will be some hills and most of the trails have a gravel base. Bring your lunch and after the drive we will eat at the Shelter House at the park. If all goes well I will bring homemade ice cream, chocolate sauce and brownies for dessert.

DIRECTIONS: From I35/I80 exit north on Hwy 141 towards Grimes. Go past Grimes to Savlorville Drive. Exit 141 onto Northwest Saylorville Drive (415) and go north to NW Beaver Drive (NW 106th Ave), turn left (west) to NW 107th St and go north to NW 103rd Ct. (Follow the signs to Jester Park Equestrian Center) Call 515-205-6983 if you have questions or get lost.

About the Carriage Glow

In the 1800's the state of the moon tended to govern the night-time social activities in the countryside, with dinner parties being held, whenever possible, when the moon was full and within horse and carriage range. We hold this spectacular class at dusk with luminaries surrounding the ring. We have a display of carriages dating back to the late 1800's. Historically these evening events are when people used their finest horses and carriages.

General Information
